Young Exander Gruber,
Playing Trumpet,
Super note!!! Watch it all and see what I mean about relaxed bouyant air through properly set chops. This kid has it all.
Our Store accepts both Credit cards and pay-pal - totally secure transactions.
We have individual physical characteristics that are changing throughout our life-span. The majority of methods revolve around playing exercises, scales, tone studies, air studies, and literature.
What we do here is strip playing the trumpet down to the most basic essentials. We set an overview of what needs to happen when you play, and show you how to make it happen for YOU!
This is not a place to learn to play in 6 easy lessons. What you will learn is how to become a player over a life-time of experience with your ever changing body and mind.
Most players don't know what a good tone is. They have not set this in their minds' ear. They have no picture of the set-up,approach to a note, or the execution of a phrase. What they do have is a desire to make some music come out of the horn and not be embarrassed about it.
I am not going to make you a musician. I am not going to make you sound like so-and-so. I am not going to tell you to just blow the horn and concentrate on a good tone.
When you mind is focused on producing an imagined good tone, you will slip down a slippery slope. You sacrifice the future on the altar of the immediate. You will paint yourself into a one dimensional blower, and forevermore regret not "doing it right" when you had the chance.
We learn in steps, plateau, then move on. We fall back into old habits, we get suckered into new methods. We do not have control of our playing lives.
Now I will lead you by many different types of instruction. Visual, Audible, comparison, rote, repetition, example, written, and felt.
As you digest these pages and the Air-Play DVD - you will see a mind picture that is just for you to see and remember:
This plays and this doesn't play - that's all there is to it. Let your mind and body envision what works and lock it into memory.
